At Home Infant Bathtub Bonding Lessons

(Bathtub Required)

Swim instruction can start as soon as early bathing days begin. Bond with your infant and get your baby comfortable in water using your home bathtub— 8 weeks old and up to 6 months.

Bath-time is a child’s first experience in water and the bathtub in your home is the perfect place for your infant to start practicing. These early water interactions will help you and your baby to become more relaxed during bath time sessions and create a good, anxiety-free, stepping stone for future swim lessons.

Provide your infant with this early form of swim lesson to give them more exercise, take better naps, feed better and sleep better at night!

Swim Haven has developed a fun, easy way for you to practice during bath-time with your baby. The Home Infant-Bonding lesson is a great program to activate baby’s body and mind. The interaction with water on the body stimulates the brain; The brain processes and follows instructions while the body is completing complex movements in water. We will work one-on-one with you and your baby as you begin your water journey through our structured program of easy songs, fun games and important techniques.

Make bath time fun and enjoyable – let us help and guide you and your baby on the first steps to a great swimming future!

Mommy or Daddy & Me Lessons

Having Mommy or Daddy participate provides comfort to new learners. Actively guiding and assisting your child in water will help promote their movement, overall development and safety — PLUS, it’s a fun time for babies and the parent.

(starting at 6 months - A parent must accompany the child in water)

These bonding lessons will help you simultaneously develop mutual trust, security and self-confidence. Lessons involve playtime with specific toys (provided by the instructor) as well as songs that allow babies to move rhythmically in the calm water, where positive new impressions and experiences are created. Water safety is very important to SWIM HAVEN and a key element in our Mommy or Daddy & Me lessons. We will teach our mini students fundamental safety and self-rescue exercises.

Parents will also learn how to safely handle and hold their child in water and benefit from the intimate physical contact, that can strengthen the parent-child connection. We will teach you to utilize controlled push-and-pull movements, so you can safely maneuver your baby smoothly through the pool, to perform resistance exercises. Not only will your baby experience a soft and pleasant massage but these aquatic exercises enable a wider range of motion while also enhancing their motor skills.

This class is not a classic Infant Self Rescue (ISR) class but rather an interactive Mommy or Daddy & Me lesson with important SAFETY elements. *See FAQ

Ages 2 and Up

For children ages two and up, who want to learn how to swim, SWIM HAVEN hosts lessons where parents are encouraged to stay close, but do not directly participate.

In these beginner swim lessons, the child will independently learn the basic skills on how to put their face in the water, submerge, blow bubbles and kick. Learning these basics will prepare the mini student to learn more advanced skills in progression, such as:

• Floating

• Gliding

• Diving

• Jumping

After the above skills are developed we can move on to learning the coordination and a proper form of arm and leg patterns and develop basic swim stroke styles.

Our goal is to teach basic safety guidelines while helping your child become comfortable in water so they can become an independent and safe swimmer.

Ages 13 to Adult

Learn to swim with confidence! Depending on your needs - this can be a BEGINNER or ADVANCED swim lesson. It is appropriate for all teenagers and adults who either don't know how to swim and/or have fear in water and/or want to improve their swimming techniques.

The approach for beginners is to have fun, feel comfortable and be safe in water. The beginners classes’ main focus will be on preliminary exercises to get familiar with water and is progressively followed by the below arm and leg techniques:

• Front Crawl

• Back Crawl

• Side Stroke

• Front and back breaststroke

We are here to support you while you reach your future swimming goals— SWIM HAVEN will tailor each lesson to your learning style and abilities.

The ultimate goal is to learn how to swim safely with a proper technique. If you have never learned how to swim (the right way), then the lesson is for you!

Students with Unique Needs

(Any Age)

Water can be an amazing and therapeutic addition in the lives of those facing special challenges. The learning ability varies as greatly as our students themselves. The instructor’s first focus is on getting the participant comfortable in water while also introducing water-safety skills. Using a fun, gentle approach (for example, visual cards) can help students learn to put their face in water, submerge, blow bubbles and kick. These basics will prepare the participant to learn more advanced skills, such as to float and to glide. Depending on the ability, the student may move on to learning the coordination of arm and leg patterns.

Our goal for special needs lessons is to teach basic safety skills, while helping you become comfortable in water. We are proud to guide you in reaching goals that are developmentally appropriate. Let us support you along your way to become a safe swimmer in your familiar environment and at your own pace.
